Was watching Channel News Asis in the morning a few days ago. Got to know from 7th July onwards, there will be 5 more Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) gantries forming a cordon along the Singapore River Line that will go live. From April 08 - November 08, a total of 16 new gantries will be added. This means by the end of this year, there will be a total of 71 gantries in operation.WTF !!! 71 gantries ??? Should they call ERP as Electronic Road Pricing / Should they call it (E)fficiency (R)equires (More)(P)aying ???
The ERP Base rate will be up from $1 to $2 & increment in future will be $1 instead of the current 50cents. Does marking up the price & making more gantries going live really help to salvage the massive jams on road?
I don't really agree to it. Y not stop selling cars / a person with income less than 10k per month should not own a car? In that case I'm sure the traffic will definetly be smooth flowing. (I know it's impossible to implement something like that) But the fact is, increase pricing of the gantries do not just affect drivers, it affect people who take a cab as well. WE DO HAVE TO PAY FOR ERP AS WELL... WTH... IT's NOT FAIR.
Don't they know, people who take a cab (Public Transport) are kind people who contribute the salary of taxi driver??? So WTH should we bear the cost as well???
I really feel that some word said by "THEM" are really contradicting.
"Them" -- Road Tax cut to prove that ERP is not for raising Government Revenue.
- But when road Tax/COE is down, more ppl feel like buying themself a car.
"Them" -- We do not want carpark in town area to be so packed all the time so more ERP will be up.
"Merchant" -- If more ERP are up, means less people shopping in town as it's expansive to drive in & It's troublesome to take a Public Transport. When this happen, our revenue will decrease.
"Them" -- More ERP will up but I'm sure it will not affect the merchant monthly traffic as I SEE ALL THE CARPARKs IN TOWN AREA ARE STILL FULLED.
OMG... Then since putting up more ERP and the carparks in town are still fulled then what's the point of putting the ERP up??? Y don't they just kick the price up to $20/entry to CBD area (If it's not enough, how about $30)? Oh ya... How they wish..
Hai... The new changes will be causing some LOUD HOWLS of protest among the public. But so what? Can Singaporeans walk on the streets to protest? Can Singaporeans choose not to listen to what had been said?

Considering the price of oil nwadays, the ERP charges hike, the inflation situation & Blar Blar Blar ...
Y THE HELL IS OUR SALARY NOT INCREASING ???
* Don't they think they should take some time out to watch JACK NEO movie " QIAN BU GOU YONG " instead of thinking of ways to take more $$$ from the (P)oor (A)bject (P)ublic who always support PAP???
